Civil wrongful death action in Long Beach

Kimura London & White LLP Partner Joshua Kimura is representing the family of a longtime caretaker whose tragic death has now led the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office to file criminal charges of involuntary manslaughter and elder abuse. The accused is the son of prominent Long Beach philanthropists and was under a conservatorship at the time of the incident.

The caretaker, Paul Farris, dedicated 16 years of his life to providing daily support and care. In February 2024, he suffered blunt force injuries allegedly inflicted during an altercation in a vehicle. Although he initially survived, his condition worsened over time, and he ultimately passed away in February 1st, 2025. After more than a year of uncertainty, the filing of criminal charges marks a significant step toward accountability.

The family turned to Kimura London & White LLP to pursue justice through a civil wrongful death action. They are seeking answers, accountability, and closure for a loss that has deeply impacted them and the Long Beach community.

KLW will continue to stand with the family as both the civil and criminal matters move forward. Our team remains committed to ensuring their voices are heard and their rights protected at every stage.
